February 11, 2014 - Kooltronic announced Hazardous Location Series Air Conditioners for electrical enclosures. For use in NEC Class I, Division 1 Groups A, B, C & D and Division 2 Groups A, B, C & D locations in conjunction with types X and Z purged enclosures, these units are used where hazardous gases are or may be present, and are also suitable for corrosive environments. With capacities from 3,000 to 24,000 BTU/H, the Hazardous Location Series air conditioners are both UL Listed and Recognized. The patent pending design represents a major advance in safety and reliability. Utilizing the enclosure’s existing purge system, these units are offered at a lower cost than traditionally designed hazardous location units.
The Hazardous Location Series maintains NEMA 12, 3R, 4 and 4X enclosure ratings. Many features such as a programmable thermostat, compressor short cycling protector and Hi/Lo temperature alarm are standard. Typical applications include oil refineries, paint and varnish manufacturing plants, petrochemical sites and hazardous materials storage facilities.
