Leading U.S. business representatives to attend Hannover Messe

March 13, 2014 - Leading U.S. industry representatives will be taking advantage of HANNOVER MESSE 2014 to promote transatlantic trade relations. For a number of years now, HANNOVER MESSE has been working to intensify its contacts to industry in the United States – an effort which is already bearing fruit. Tom J.

Donohue, CEO and President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – the world’s biggest federation of enterprises – and Jay Timmons, CEO and President of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), have announced their attendance at the world’s leading industrial trade fair.

At the Business Summit taking place on the first day of the show, these U.S. representatives will join European industrialists to discuss the future of integrated industry. “The United States has developed into a strong and reliable partner of HANNOVER MESSE,” remarked Dr.

Jochen Köckler, Member of the Managing Board at Deutsche Messe, adding that “a key theme of our talks here in April will be to expand our cooperation to further increase the percentage of U.S. exhibitors and visitors.”

An additional high-ranking U.S. visitor will consist of Judy Reinke, responsible for trade promotion at the U.S.

Dept. of Commerce. American visitors are also planning to attend the Opening Ceremony of HANNOVER MESSE, as well as take part in official tours of the exhibition and meet with members of the Deutsche Messe Managing Board. Observers are also keenly awaiting the appearance of American political and business representatives at the Global Business & Markets conferences in Hall 13.

The U.S. Trade & Investment Summit on Monday afternoon (7 April) will feature discussions on expanding trade and investment relations as well as the current state of negotiations on the Transatlantic Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA) and the topic of “Advanced Manufacturing” – the American counterpart to the German “Industry 4.0” initiative. Reinke will speak on expanding trade relations, while Donohue’s keynote will be devoted to promoting a dialog on TAFTA among European and American industry representatives.

The discussion on Advanced Manufacturing will be joined by high-ranking representatives from German industry. And a guest-speaking appearance at the Summit by Edelgard Bulmahn, Vice President of the German Parliament (Bundestag), will underscore the German government’s commitment to promoting networking between German and American industry at HANNOVER MESSE.
