Leviton publishes high-amp connector brochure

27 July, 2007
1 min read
12-page brochure includes spec sheets, installation overview, and information on connectors, receptacles, accessories and replacement parts.

Little Neck, NY, July 27, 2007 – The new 12-page brochure includes feature/benefit details, specification sheets, an installation overview, and ordering information tables for connectors, receptacles, accessories and replacement parts. Leviton expanded its Rhino-Hide® 49 Series of high-amperage, single-pole connectors to 10 colors, including purple and gray and has added color-coded panel mount receptacle housings. Rhino-Hide Connectors and Receptacles are designed for the demanding environments of land-based and off-shore oil drilling rigs and other high-amperage power generation applications. Color-coding devices makes for faster, more accurate assembly and improves site safety.

Mating connectors and receptacles by color minimizes errors due to mis-wiring and saves time during assembly and trouble-shooting. The color-coded connector and receptacle housings provide quick visual identification of circuit and phase connections, especially on dusty and dirty land-based oil rigs. Rhino-Hide 49 Series connectors and receptacles deliver up to 1,000 Volts AC or DC and up to 1,135 Amps of continuous power. Male and female connector contacts feature crimp-style terminations and each contact is sized for the cable diameter, making the most secure termination. Panel mount receptacles feature bus-bar style terminations and are available with single or double holes.

Rhino-Hide devices accept cables ranging from 313 MCM through 777 MCM.Made from UV and thermal resistant Santoprene TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate), Rhino-Hide connector housings maintain color and flexibility longer than traditional neoprene housings, increasing their useable life. The panel mount receptacle’s powder-coated housing provides two benefits: a visual indication of phase or circuit and longer life by reducing corrosion. Rhino-Hide devices mate with other manufacturers’ high-amperage, single pole connectors and receptacles for fast, easy change-out, and can be installed on both existing silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR’s) and generator stations or on new construction.

Rhino-Hide connectors and receptacles are “cURus” Recognized Components eligible for sales in Canada and the U.S. and are backed by Leviton’s Limited Two-Year Warranty.
