MANCHESTER, U.K. July 30 2026 — Macrium Software announced that Gruppo AB has selected Macrium as its standard backup and recovery solution across more than 2,000 systems worldwide. The agreement, delivered through Macrium channel partner Naonis, will see Gruppo AB standardize backup and recovery across the industrial environments it designs, deploys and supports, where rapid, dependable recovery is essential to maintaining operational continuity.
Gruppo AB is a global leader in energy sustainability that designs, builds and maintains cogeneration, biogas, biomethane and emissions-treatment plants to help industrial customers reduce energy costs and carbon emissions. Many of the Windows-based systems it supports run in industrial plants without internet connectivity, protecting infrastructure that underpins food cold chains, hospitals and other essential services, where any outage or network failure can have major repercussions for customers, patients and service delivery.
Macrium was selected for its ability to simplify recovery while supporting consistent deployment across Gruppo AB's global operations. Using a single pre-built image, engineers can standardize system preparation worldwide, dramatically reducing deployment time across more than 2,000 installations. The lightweight solution also enables image deployment without USB media or external devices, while automated nightly backups help ensure systems can be recovered quickly whenever required.
"Critical infrastructure depends on systems being available when people need them most," said Dave Joyce, CEO of Macrium Software. "Gruppo AB supports environments where outages can quickly have wider operational consequences, so recovery has to be dependable, repeatable and straightforward to execute under pressure. The fact they've trusted Macrium to standardize recovery across more than 2,000 systems worldwide speaks volumes — they trust us to deliver.”
Macrium's simplicity has also enabled Gruppo AB to support customers without requiring specialist backup expertise. Recovery procedures can be guided remotely over the phone, allowing engineers and operators with little previous experience to restore systems confidently during critical situations.
"Our plants serve critical environments like cold chains and hospitals, and Macrium is on every one of those systems," said Danielle Placidi, SCADA and Software HMI Coordinator, Gruppo AB. “When recovery needs to work in a crisis, that reliability and simplicity absolutely make the difference. It’s so straightforward, our clients can do it over a phone call.”
Gruppo AB has now deployed Macrium across more than 2,000 systems worldwide, protecting critical industrial environments with automated nightly backups and dependable recovery.
“I would definitely recommend Macrium to any engineer because it's easy to use and reliable,” said Federico Schinetti, SCADA and SW HMI Specialist, Gruppo AB. “It saved me in critical situations and it saved clients from losing control of their plant.”
Gruppo AB joins a growing number of organizations choosing Macrium to strengthen recovery readiness across industrial and critical infrastructure environments, where dependable recovery is essential to keeping critical services running.
