Exida certified the Eclipse Model 705 Guided Wave Radar Transmitter as Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 capable per IEC 61508.

January 25, 2012 - Magnetrol International announces that exida certified the Eclipse Model 705 Guided Wave Radar Transmitter as Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 capable per IEC 61508. SIL certification is obtained through analysis based on quantitative data and tests indicating the length of time between failures and expected performance in the field. A Failure Mode Effect and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) confirmed that the Magnetrol ECLIPSE Model 705 has demonstrated a solid field use history, includes sound engineering processes, and is designed with capable self-diagnostics. “The exida certificate gives our customers strong confidence that the ECLIPSE Model 705 is applicable to safety critical applications" says Bob Botwinski, ECLIPSE Product Manager.

"As important, in the past, reliability was measured by MTBF or similar types of calculations.” “Today, reliability is measured by conformance to IEC 61508, and having achieved certification to this standard, the Magnetrol ECLIPSE Model 705 is recognized at the highest level of reliability based on its performance." The ECLIPSE Model 705 is a two-wire loop-powered level transmitter that operates upon the proven Guided Wave Radar technology. Guided Wave Radar offers advantages such as high sensitivity and immunity to changing media properties, and can be used in control applications that exhibit visible vapors, foam, and surface agitation. Coaxial, Twin, and Single rod probes are offered for a wide variety of applications and process conditions up to 6250 psi (430 bar) or +800°F (+430°C).

Magnetrol International is a manufacturer of liquid level measurement instrumentation, including ECLIPSE guided wave radar transmitters, Pulsar pulse burst radar transmitters, Modulevel displacer transmitters, buoyancy liquid level switches, Thermatel thermal dispersion switches and transmitters, Echotel ultrasonic contact and non-contact switches and transmitters, Kotron RF capacitance switches and transmitters and Solitel vibrating rods.
