July 11, 2012–Meggitt announced that Steve Wichtendahl will be the new General Manager for Meggitt (Maryland). Wichtendahl’s familiarity with the company including operations, products, markets served, and values will add to business development and customer relationships.

Steve Wichtendahl rejoins the Germantown facility after previously working as Director of Sales for Energy Products, North America at MSS New Hampshire. Managing sales and key customer relationships within Meggitt Sensing Systems, he brings extensive experience and insight about energy products and industry demands. His career experience has spanned program management, business development, and sales and marketing with businesses such as QuesTech Corporation and Hewlett Packard. With a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering as well as a Master of Business Administration, Wichtendahl is well-equipped to enhance the Maryland based business and develop Wilcoxon Research products for existing and new markets.

“Steve’s appointment represents a return to his ‘roots’ because he was formerly Vice President, Sales & Marketing for Wilcoxon Research. Inc. from 2003 – 2005, at the time of the Meggitt acquisition,” said Peter Huber, President of Meggitt Sensing Systems. “His familiarity with the business, its history, its people and its challenges, will serve him and the organization well.”

Since 2005, Derek Carbin has served as the General Manager and president of Meggitt (Maryland). He retains the position of president and will work closely with Steve for the rest of 2012, helping him assimilate in his new role. Dr. Carbin’s strong leadership, preservation of core values and culture, and sense of organization greatly shaped business performance in Maryland. His efforts with Meggitt Sensing Systems are commendable, and his departure into retirement at the end of the year is well deserved.
