MGV releases 24V power supplies for frequency converters
SUH1000 (universal input AC plus DC) and SDH1000 (DC input) have been tested in accordance with EN60950 and UL60950 and are UL508 listed.

February 8, 2009 - Munich. MGV presents 24V power supplies operating on intermediate circuits in frequency converters. With their slim book format, the SDH1000 and SUH1000 are ideally suited to many types of converters. These 1,000 W power supplies offer a wide input range of 350-780(910) VDC, the SUH1000 boasting an additional three-phase AC input of 340-550 VAC. In this case, both alternating and direct voltage can be fed in simultaneously.

These new power supplies operate with the energy fed into intermediate circuits in frequency converters. They can also increase the overall efficiency of equipment by making use of the energy recovered while drives are in generator operation mode. As a result – and as a result of the wide input range – it is possible to create long buffer times. The 24V output can be adjusted from 22.5V to 26V and carries an output load of up to 40A.

In addition, a programmable power boost supplies 200% of the rated current for a total of 2s, ensuring for instance that even high-powered appliances are safely switched off. To increase the output, several appliances can be connected in parallel on a power sharing basis. Outstanding features of these power supplies are their high efficiency ratio of 91.5%, a straight output curve and high control accuracy.

They can operate between 0…+70° C with a derating factor of 1.25%/K above 60° C. An integral, temperature-controlled fan is activated at component temperatures of 60° C upwards, which also allows the power supplies to be mounted in any position. The ON/OFF function on the power supplies can be operated by remote control. Due to potential-free contacts, faults are indicated even in the event of a short circuit in the main output voltage.

The appliances are fitted with extensive primary and secondary monitoring and protection functions for overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature. Screw clamps for electrical connection are included as standard, but optional provision can also be made for spring clamps. Wall-brackets are used for direct installation on a mounting plate in the switching cabinet – ideally next to the frequency converters. SUH1000 (universal input AC plus DC) and SDH1000 (DC input) have been tested in accordance with EN60950 and UL60950 and are UL508 listed. They are CSA approved.

In spite of their extremely slim design, measuring 70x275x185 mm, the power supplies guarantee immission up to 4kV, which is essential for industrial applications.
