Mikrotron Introduces CoaXPress Version of EoSens Creation High-Speed Camera
Equipped with CXP-12 interface for frame rates up to 2240 fps at 2 megapixels.

Aug. 27, 2021 - Mikrotron has followed up on the successful launch of its 10GigE GenICam EoSens Creation two-megapixel camera with a new CoaXPress version 2.0, the EoSens Creation 2.0CXP2. Like the 10GigE model, the new camera lets engineers embed custom IP (image processing algorithms) into a Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA that internally processes streams up to 5 GB/s, therefore reducing network congestion, latencies and CPU workloads while improving response times.

The EoSens Creation 2.0CXP2 combines these edge processing capabilities with the lightning speeds of the CXP-12 interface, switchable between 1, 2 or 4 links depending on application requirements with each link powerful enough to deliver 12.5 Gbps. As a result, the camera achieves the transfer of HD quality 1920 x 1080 images at 2,240 frames-per-second (fps), or a maximum 170,575 fps at smaller sizes, when utilizing all four CXP lanes.

Easily customized, the EoSens Creation 2.0CXP2 can be tailored to a wide range of high performance machine vision applications including melt pool monitoring, laser triangulation, 3D scanning, sorting, inspection and laser tracking. Directly implementing algorithms and functions into the camera's FPGA lets engineers develop solutions with clear differentiation to competitors. The internal FPGA has more processing power than many high-end PCs, opening up new possibilities for machine vision with the EoSens Creation 2.0CXP2 camera.

Equipped with a 2 megapixel 4/3 inch CMOS sensor, the Mikrotron EoSens Creation 2.0 CXP2 camera offers sensitivity of 20V/Lux @ 550nm to achieve high-contrast, detailed images in low light environments, and 60dB dynamic range for the capture of usable data in the darkest and brightest areas of an image. Its CXP-12 interface provides 12.5 Gbps per cable for video, images and data, a lower speed uplink of 42 Mbps for communications and control, and Power-over-Coax over a single Coaxial cable in lengths up to 35 meters.
