DDLMs (Direct Drive Linear Motors) eliminate backlash for users requiring high acceleration, high speed, and long life.

November 17, 2014 -MotiCont releases DDLM (Direct Drive Linear Motors) that eliminate backlash and provide an economical solution for users requiring high acceleration, high speed, and long life. They are available in three off-the-shelf models.

The compact DDLM-019-044-01, linear motor is only 0.75 in. (19.1 mm) in diameter and 1.75 in. (44.5 mm) long.

It has a stroke of 0.46 in. (11.7 mm), and features 11.0 oz (3.1 N) of continuous force and 34.8 oz (9.7 N) peak.

The compact, longer stroke DDLM-019-070-01, linear motor is also only 0.75 in. (19.1 mm) in diameter but is 2.75 in. (69.9 mm) long.

It has a stroke of 0.96 in. (24.4 mm), and features 10.1oz (2.8 N) of continuous force and 32.1oz (8.9 N) peak.

For higher force applications the DDLM-038-051-01 linear motor is 1.5 in. (38.1 mm) in diameter and 2.00 in. (38.1 mm) long.

It has a stroke of 0.375 in. (9.5 mm) with a continuous force of 3.1 lbs (14.0 N) and 9.9 lbs (44.1 N) peak.

These very compact motors can be easily integrated into new and existing applications using threaded features on the front and rear faces of the motor, as well as each end of the shaft. The feed-back devices, amplifiers and controllers are also available. If a motor with a longer stroke and/or greater force is required please request additional information from the factory. Non-commutated, moving magnet motors have zero cogging, and the light mass of the mov-ing part allows for high acceleration/deceleration for higher throughput, and direct coupling to the load increases accuracy. All DDLM linear motors are also available with internal springs to retract the shaft to a home position in the event of a sudden shutdown, and they can be quickly customized to meet specific needs.

DDLM direct drive motor applications include: Automated assembly, component insertion, fluid dispensing, pick-and-place, robotics, wafer handling, sorting, valve and flow control, labeling, tension control, and laser machining in the processing, manufacturing, medical, inspection, metrology and other industries.
