Hampton, NH.. MOST (MTL Open System Technologies) announced the availability of the MOST Controller Sequence of Events (SOE) Input Module, High Density Digital Input Module and Mass Termination Assemblies (MTA) units. "SOE recording is necessary to capture both the first event and the sequence of a number of events that occurred during a shutdown or a trip sequence in order to better understand the cause of the event," explained MOST president Dennis Gillespie.
"These SOE modules and companion Event Logger Software (part of the MOST Workbench environment) provide a means of recording these events and use highly accurate time stamps to determine the precise order in which they occurred.” “These solutions provide a cost competitive solution in all applications particularly in addressing the needs of the power industry, when compared with PLC solutions,” said Gillespie.
“These modules provide a very effective solution for applications with significant digital content.”The modules include: • The 8125-DI-SE SOE Input Module • The 8125-DI-DC High Density Input Module • The 8618-FT-MT and 8619-FT-MT Mass Termination Assemblies (MTA)The 8127-DI-SE is a 32-chanel DI/SOE input module whose primary focus is to monitor the status of digital inputs and record state changes to an internal buffer. The state changes are time stamped to the nearest 1/4 millisecond. Once recorded the state data is periodically transferred to the controller. Each channel is a standard discrete input that can also be configured as an SOE input.
The module accepts inputs from dry contact switches or proximity detectors. SOE input signals can also be used as standard discrete inputs as part of any control strategy. The 8125-DI-DC is a 32 channel digital input module that accepts inputs form dry contact switches or proximity detectors and offers a pulse counting capability of up to 500 Hz plus a latching option.
These modules are the first Division 2/Zone 2 rated modules to support the NAMUR proximity sensor standard and provide line fault detection on all inputs. The 8125 and 8127 can be used in 32 channel mode with the 8619 MTA and in 30 channel mode with the 8617-FT-NI 32 screw FTA.The MOST Control system is a rugged, field-mountable control platform intended for those process applications that might previously have used programmable logic controllers (PLCs) because of their ability to scale to fit smaller applications. The MOST control system provides process customers with an effective alternative to PLC solutions. When combined with MTL8000 Process I/O components, it offers cost-savings over control-room mounted systems as well as flexible system design and high system availability.
A MOST system can use off-the-shelf HMI packages, including Wonderware, Intellution and Cimplicity. The MOST control system is an ideal solution for harsh and hazardous applications. It operates over the –40°C to +70°C typical of industrial, harsh process applications. The powerful controller provides a tight control loop response, assuring that the system has more than enough capacity for advanced control strategies.
The controller features a rigorous redundancy model and has redundant Ethernet communications ports for reliable system operations and high-speed communications.MOST products are targeted at the process automation market, including the following industries: chemicals and petrochemicals, water and waste water, oil and gas pipeline, cement, pulp and paper, power generation and electrical distribution, food and beverage. The MOST Hybrid Controller, with its simultaneous support of function block programming and IEC 61131-3 programming, is an ideal solution for those process applications that have considered using a PLC.MOST is the leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of open hardware and software technology-based components for the process automation market.
