CARY, N.C. (February 2006) — MTS Systems Corp. Sensors Division has expanded the services offered to existing and potential new customers to assist them in specifying, installing and maintaining the company’s level sensors in a wide variety of applications. For a reasonable fee, MTS will offer a site survey and pre-sale specification; evaluation and recommendations for the upgrade path; on-site training as well as hands-on training at the factory; installation and commissioning; scheduled periodic maintenance; and factory-authorized repair service.

“We’ve designed these new service packages for both first-time customers and long-time users,” said Adrian Totten, MTS Liquid Level Marketing & Sales Manager. “While our level sensors are designed to work out of the box, some customers may need assistance in choosing the sensor that is best for a special application, in utilizing the sensor’s capabilities in the most effective and efficient manner, or in upgrading from one Implementation to something newer. Now we can offer our expertise in a hands-on, one-on-one program.”The service package focuses on the following areas:

  • Pre-sale specification and site survey. This results in a detailed quote that takes into account the current state of the point of installation, existing level sensors, wiring schemes and existing interfaces;
  • Evaluation and recommendations for the upgrade path. This package is tailored for the current MTS customer who
  • On-site training. This focuses on the new or existing customer who is looking to have on-site personnel trained in installation, set-up, basic troubleshooting, and use of the set-up software.
  • Installation and commissioning. Offering a qualified MTS field engineer on-site to oversee the installation of the gauge, wiring, communications scheme, and initial calibration during this phase of the project, this service can minimize start-up time for new installations.
  • Factory-authorized repair service. This is a more traditional service call performed by a field engineer or repair technician on an existing MTS level sensor installation.
  • Hands-on training at MTS. A two-day, in-depth training program at the MTS factory, this program teaches participants about magnetostriction and the M-Series family of level gauges, and teaches them how to calibrate, test, and troubleshoot both analog and digital level gauges from MTS.MTS Sensors is the world leader in magnetostrictive technology.
