November 8, 2011 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published the 2012 edition of its Electrical Standards and Products Guide, a comprehensive listing of NEMA electrical standards as well as an extensive directory of manufacturers and their products. It is used by military, government, and private buyers who work in lighting, motors and industrial controls, transmission and distribution, transportation, medical imaging, architecture and construction, and other industries that specify and use electrical equipment. NEMA is the association of electrical equipment manufacturers, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.

Its member companies manufacture a diverse set of products including power transmission and distribution equipment, lighting systems, factory automation and control systems, and medical diagnostic imaging systems. Worldwide annual sales of NEMA-scope products exceed $120 billion.
