New technology making isolation verification at Hay Point dead easy

Redbusbar supplies LED voltage indicators to major coal port expansion.

LOCKOUT and energy isolation equipment provider Redbusbar proudly contributed to BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance's Hay Point Coal Terminal expansion by supplying more than 400 of its DeadEasy, LED voltage indicators.

DeadEasy is a switchboard-mounted 3 phase voltage indicator that includes a self-test function. It is primarily used to verify safety isolations as part of lockout procedures.

DeadEasy is different because it incorporates a true self test function, provides illuminated indication when the isolation switch is off and utilises non-contact sensing to detect the presence of power circuit voltage. It was designed to provide ‘non-electrical’ workers with a simple and safe method of verifying motor control centre-based electrical isolations before conducting mechanical maintenance.

Redbusbar is an Australian company that was founded in 2003 to market products developed by its own engineers. Redbusbar’s local and international customers include Anglo American, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Kimberly Clark, Evolution Mining, Dow Chemical, Borg Warner, MMG, Newmont, Peabody Energy and Pepsi.
