NEWS RELEASE – Feb. 22, 2005 – National Instruments today announced that it is joining other leaders in automated test to host the Automated Test Summit 2005, a series of 14 free one-day events throughout North America from April to June. At these industry events, which expand on the successful Automated Test Summit 2004, attendees can learn about emerging trends and techniques in design validation and manufacturing test and see the latest automated test innovations in action. “Last year, we had the opportunity to discuss strategies for optimizing test throughput and improving overall quality while minimizing cycle times with more than a thousand automated test engineers and managers at the Automated Test Summit 2004,” said Luke Schreier, NI modular instrumentation product manager.

“Based on overwhelmingly positive feedback, we are hosting the Automated Test Summit 2005 with new technical content, partners and case study presentations that reflect the current issues the industry faces.”The Automated Test Summit 2005 offers attendees the opportunity to learn how leading corporations increase return on investment through improved automated test methods. Representatives from companies including National Instruments, Tektronix, Virginia Panel, Thermotron, JTAG Technologies, and Davis Inotek share their expertise on ensuring product quality, choosing platforms for test and improving test throughput with modular software and hardware.

Keynote presentations, technical sessions and case studies address new technologies such as PCI Express, synchronization and calibration strategies, software autoscheduling and appropriate bus technology selections (LAN/LXI, USB, PCI/PXI) for your system. “Engineers are faced with increased pressures to improve design and manufacturing processes, lower development costs and shorten time to market,” said Chris Loberg, Tektronix, Inc market segment manager in design and manufacturing. “By participating in the Automated Test Summit, we can provide our customers with tools and tips to increase measurement productivity so they can beat the market pressures they face.

This is one of the only events in which automated test and validation engineers can meet with key players in the industry at one time.”Technical session topics include:

  • Bridging validation and test with common software technology
  • Evaluating platforms for performance and reusability
  • Incorporating best practices for ensuring product quality
  • Improving test throughput with emerging technologiesNI is hosting the Automated Test Summit in the following cities:
