Experion Will Integrate With Emergency Shutdown System to Improve Safety, Efficiency and Reliability
PHOENIX, April 13, 2004 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Process Solutions announced today that Noordgastransport B.V. has selected the Experion(tm) Process Knowledge System (PKS) and Fieldbus instrumentation for its gas treatment plant in Uithuizen, the Netherlands. Honeywell is responsible for managing the upgrade project and providing hardware and software engineering services.
Experion will replace the plant's single-loop control and relay-based Emergency Shutdown System (ESD)." We chose Honeywell as the supplier for the entire upgrade project because it offers an integrated automation solution with emergency shutdown and Foundation Fieldbus," said Mr. Willem Van der Plas of Noordgastransport. The automation solution includes a redundant Experion system consisting of two redundant C200 controllers with full Foundation* Fieldbus instrumentation, and a fully redundant Fail-Safe Control (FSC®) system for ESD and marshalling cabinets.
Start-up of the project is scheduled for July 2004.Established in 1973 to transport gas from the offshore L10 block, Noordgastransport B.V. owns a major natural gas transmission pipeline system in the Dutch North Sea. The company also owns the onshore gas treatment plant at Uithuizen, where natural gas liquids are extracted from the gas stream, and a nearby railcar loading facility.
