September 28, 2006 - OSCEOLA, Wis. —Northwire announced the release of the new high-flex DataCELL cable, GEV-1000, designed for the rapidly emerging GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) Vision market. GEV-1000 meets the strict mechanical, electrical and shielding requirements of industrial GigE Vision camera installations and interfaces with standard and specialty Ethernet cable connectors.GEV-1000 has been thoroughly tested for standard compliance and application suitability. The cable was tested for TIA/EIA-568-B compliance with a 60-meter assembly using a Fluke DSP-4000 Cable Analyzer.
The test confirmed conformance with NEXT, characteristic impedance, length, return loss and HDTDX parameters. The cable has also been evaluated with a DALSA Genie-M640 Gigabit Ethernet camera operating up to 60 frames per second. GEV-1000 will continue to be subjected to rigorous high-flex life evaluation on Northwire’s exclusive flex-stress automated testers and it will be application tested in lengths beyond the 100-meter expectations of GigE Vision specifications.GEV-1000 has high-flex life and is suitable for use in motion applications and has dual shields (braid and foil), industrial-grade construction and a weld flash-resistant TPE outer cable jacket.
It is oil and abrasion resistant and is suitable for outdoor installation.GEV-1000 joins Northwire’s line of DataCELL products, including Field Bus, MVC-800 FireWire and J-1939 Vehicle Bus cables.Northwire Inc., based in Osceola, Wis., is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of industrial-grade technical cable.
Custom design choices include paired, non-paired, triads, various shielding and grounding options, special insulation options, plus a large variety of conductor and jacket colors. Northwire is a member of the A.I.A.
