February 2, 2008 - Schaumburg, IL USA - Omron Electronic Components announces 8-channel and 16-channel LF versions to its B6TS application-ready touch sensing IC family. This family of products measures floating capacitance through most insulating touch panel materials. Therefore, they are ideal for use in appliance, commercial, and other products that must be able to withstand long life, cleaning, and be easily operated by personnel wearing thin polymer surgical or food service gloves. The B6TS series integrates detecting and processing functions into a single-chip micro controller that can be programmed quickly and easily. The Workbench model B6TW is an intuitive tool enabling design-to-function verification.
The Workbench can be operated by any designer with a basic knowledge of digital circuitry for functions such as parameter setting, operation monitoring, and capacitance calculation. The fact that these products are easy and fast to customize make them perfect for OEMs & ODMs who produce multiple product variations, and unlike membrane switches, they require no special tooling. The above new additions offer two drift-compensation modes, and a second touch-judging time feature.The B6TS is available in four versions: the 4-channel SSOP-20 package B6TS-04LT, the 8-channel QFP-32 package B6TS-08NF, the new 8-channel QFP-32 package B6TS-08LF, and the new 52 pin TQFP package B6TS-16LF. All versions feature high noise-immunity and automatic drift compensation.
Also, the three LT & LF types have a VDD range of 3.0 to 5.5VDC. Their operating temperature range is –20 to +85ºC.
