Relays have a sealed, gas-filled construction that cools the arc created during switching up to 200A.

October 16, 2007 - Schaumburg, IL USA - Omron Electronic Components LLC announces the G9E series of DC power relays. This device provides a reliable means of disconnect in high power battery applications. These relays feature a sealed, gas-filled construction that cools the arc created during switching. Subsequently, the contact gap is reduced, allowing for a 70% reduction in overall size, when compared to contactors. An added benefit is a reduction of operating noise by half.

There are three models to choose from, all in a SPST-NO contact configuration. The G9EA measures 36W x 73L x 67.2H (mm) in 60A @ 400VDC and 100A @ 120VDC versions, the G9EC 44W x 98L x 86.7H (mm) switches up to 200A @ 400VDC, and the G9EB 25W x 60L x 58H (mm) switches up to 25A @ 250 VDC. Operating coil voltages include 12, 24, 48, 60, & 100VDC.

All of these DC power relays have a dielectric strength of 2,500VAC with an impulse withstand of 4,500V when operating in an ambient temperature range of –40 to +70ºC, barring any icing or condensation. The G9E series is currently available in mass production volume and is now being utilized in many applications including hybrid vehicles, fuel cells, wind and solar power generation, battery operated golf carts and forklifts, and industrial equipment. “Omron has long been committed to clean energy technology. This coupled with our leadership position in the production of relays has made the G9E a reality,” said Cami Marsh, Marketing Communications Coordinator of Omron Electronic Components LLC. Manufacturer’s Suggested List Price for the G9EA’s range from $110 to $140.

G9EB’s vary from $99 to $103, while the G9EC’s span from $220 to $240. Delivery is stock to 8 weeks.
