March 20, 2012 - Optex FA Sensors releases UQ1 control unit for automatic communications between Optex Displacement Laser Sensors and Mitsubishi Q Series PLCs. The UQ1 control card has a built in microprocessor that automatically controls measurement data between the laser and the Q series, resulting in no load on the CPU of the PLC. The card comes with a control output terminal that operates independently of the PLC sequencer enabling fast response times of complex onboard measurement data such as thickness, leveling, step height, inclination, and averaging (min. 100microseconds). Set-up is easier than ever.
Communication setup is unnecessary as the UQ1 series is recognized by simply installing it on the base unit. Bar graph status of sensing distance, measurement result, and laser head connection status are available through a simple LED display on the card. UQ1 Navigator PC software is also available to adjust sensor parameters, and check measurement status without requiring ladder programming knowledge. Multiple UQ1 units can communicate and perform measurement calculations through “FIrST” infrared communication which was originally developed for the UQ1 series. UQ1 Series is ideal for high speed measurement applications.
Manufacturers currently using Mitsubishi Q series PLCs with laser displacement sensors would benefit from the UQ1 Series.
