Innovative computer design makes choice of InduSoft a ‘natural fit’
Austin, TX — December 5, 2005 — Each unit of an innovative line of advanced industrial computers from Optimation will ship with InduSoft Web Studio™ monitoring and control software pre-installed. The Formula iPC line has a unique modular design that enables users to specify their choice of display type and size, engine bay components and design, and storage media in a separate bay on the back. “Optimation has already been selling InduSoft software as a stand-alone product,” commented Charles Garrett, president of the Huntsville, AL-based company.
“When we conceived the new Formula iPC line we wanted it to combine flexibility, functionality, superlative quality and elegant design—and we realized that InduSoft would be a natural fit right down the line.”The Formula iPC hardware offers an exceptional variety of options. For example, the front chassis design permits the basic 15-inch flat screen display to be field upgraded to either a 17-inch or 19-inch display. The slim profile engine bay can be configured with low power Pentium M and Celeron M technology plus an exhaustive range of memory options.
The media bay can house a 2.5-inch HDD, floppy, Slim CDRW/DVD and second HDD at the same time. Optimation has even included a lift-off rear chassis design to make the computer more maintenance friendly.InduSoft Web Studio includes the tools needed for advanced automation, with all the building blocks an engineer might want to develop human machine interfaces (HMIs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and embedded instrumentation and control applications. A simple drag and drop development environment enables the user to mimic the real time behavior of complex processes.
Used with any popular Web browser, InduSoft can remotely manage workstations; monitor, debug, and update software remotely; and access real-time, dynamic graphic screens, trends, alarms, reports, and recipes online. Three Ethernet ports on the Formula iPC computers support network connectivity that the InduSoft solutions can make maximum use of.InduSoft enables a user to run their Optimation computer as an engineering desktop, a manager’s console, an operator interface or even a thin client terminal. Optional PanelMate and PanelView import tools can automatically convert PanelMate and PanelView legacy applications into InduSoft applications running on the iPC.
