ROCHESTER, NY, September 2005 -- ORMEC is pleased to announce its new line-up of ServoWire Motion & Logic Controllers (SMLC) for cost-effective, integrated motion, I/O and networking solutions. The three new models; 30, 80 and 160, offer a small footprint, improved performance and more standard features. Utilizing Pentium processors, FireWire drive networking and Ethernet connectivity, the SMLC is a system that can control your entire machine.Reduce costs by replacing a motion controller and PLC combination with a single SMLC, which can control up to 16 axes and thousands of I/O points.

By combining ORMEC Soft Motion technology with IEC 61131-3 programming, PLCopen motion function blocks and industry standard protocols for I/O and network connectivity, the SMLC provides a fully integrated machine control solution.Key Features

  • SMLC controllers offer a compact footprint (9” x 2.75” x 7.23”, H x W x D, for Model 30 and 80 or 9” x 4.25” x 7.23“ for Model 160)
  • Rugged Industrial hardware features an all metal-enclosure, no fans required
  • Intel 32-bit processors running the reliable and robust QNX real-time operating system (RTOS)
  • Removable Compact Flash for program storage
  • 32 Kbytes battery-backed SRAM for non-volatile data storage
  • Two Ethernet ports and three or four serial ports
  • Modbus/TCP communications for interfacing I/O and touchscreen HMIs
  • Wago 750 Series I/O connected via Modbus/UDP or FireWire.
  • PC-104+ expansion slot(s) for other factory networks
  • IEC 61131-3 application Programming.
  • Choose the right SMLC model for your application--SMLC-30 Up to 3 axes--SMLC-80 Up to 8 axes--SMLC-160 Up to 16 axes
  • SMLC controllers can connect up to 16 digital ServoWire SM Drives with up to a 4 kHz loop update rate.

Built-in digital (8 In / 8 Out) and analog I/O

Choose any of the five standard languages.

Use PLCopen motion function blocks plus powerful ORMEC extensions for multi-axis, coordinated motion, registration control and more

All-digital drive networking using cost effective, open standard IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface hardware and cabling.
