Montreal, January 22, 2007 – Orus3D releases RoboGauge: a comprehensive set of tools to create or transform an industrial robot into a powerful in-line coordinate measuring machine (CMM). RoboGauge is designed to provide real-time high-accuracy 3D data for inspection of critical dimensions or optimal quality control in almost any manufacturing process and production line.
Being developed by Orus3D, a year-old spin-off of Montreal-based Orus Integration, RoboGauge features a SKEYE 6M 3D laser scanning head, an RT-series vision controller, and FLY, a high-performance 3D data acquisition and 3D processing library for the creation of acquisition sequences and automated inspections.Mounted on the end of an industrial robot or multi-axis system, RoboGauge scans parts and converts that data using proprietary optimized algorithms that produce a highly accurate and repeatable representation of the surface to be inspected. A part-specific inspection scheme can then be performed for quality control on the data channeled at the rate of up to 6 million points per second.
System integrators can choose, at design time, among three SKEYE models: 35, 150 or 300; each offering different combinations of field-of-views, depth-of-fields and accuracy (varying from 25 to 200 microns).Targeted for the automotive and aeronautical industries, RoboGauge is the no-compromise answer for these sectors where 100% inspection is becoming a norm. "Pre-release units have already generated tremendous enthusiasm amongst production and Quality Control key personnel. We are very excited to bring this next-generation technology to the market." says president Baldo.
About Orus3D:
Established in 2006 by five shareholders combining decades of experience in machine vision and 3D scanning, Orus3D is a privately-held Canadian manufacturer of three-dimensional tools for robot guidance and real-time 3D inspection and gauging. These tools uses the latest laser scanning technology in order to provide automation system integrators or manufacturer's automation team, easy solution for real-time robotic coordinate measurement system on the factory floor.
