This project will provide technology for the tracking and prediction of outages and service disruptions, in addition to supporting real-time dissemination of outage information to field crews, customers, PWC staff, and via social media.

April 11, 2019 — Open Systems International (OSI) has been selected by Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC) of Fayetteville, North Carolina to supply an Outage Management System (OMS) based on OSI's monarch   operational technology (OT) platform. This project will provide technology for the tracking and prediction of outages and service disruptions, in addition to supporting real-time dissemination of outage information to field crews, customers, PWC staff, and via social media.

Electra OMS, OSI’s OMS, uses a big data and web technologies. It has been developed from the ground up as an OMS with the flexibility and scalability to handle normal and severe storm conditions, communication to customers, and integration with a variety of enterprise systems. OSI’s OMS is a natively integrated part of OSI’s Advanced Distribution Management platform, providing PWC the means to leverage real-time capabilities of the OSI platform and Distribution Management System (DMS) applications in a modular way, extending the OMS to an ADMS over time.

The PWC OMS project includes applications such as: distribution network operating model, real-time control and tagging, trouble call management, outage analysis, crew dispatch, outage communication and reporting, outage data warehouse, calculation subsystem, Volt/VAR control, web-based real-time graphical view capabilities, and interfaces to PWC’s SCADA, Geographic Information System (GIS), Customer Information System (CIS), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Mobile Workforce Management (MWFM), Work and Asset Management (WAM), Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Interactive Voice Response (IVR), and Short Message Service (SMS).
