The SCADA system will be installed on WETT's high-voltage transmission lines. Its Transmission Network Analysis applications include State Estimator, Topology Processor, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis and Operator training Simulator functions.

January 7, 2013 - Open Systems International (OSI) will provide a SCADA/EMS system to Wind Energy Transmission Texas. In 2009, WETT was awarded a contract by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) to construct, operate and maintain high-voltage transmission lines in 11 West Texas counties as part of the Texas Legislature’s Competitive Renewable energy Zone (CREZ) project. The CREZ project goals have been to construct approximately 2,400 miles of new 345kV transmission lines and expand renewable energy capacity to 18,500 MW by 2013.

The new SCADA/EMS system for WETT will be based on OSI’s monarch platform and will feature the advanced functionality of OSI’s .NET based Graphical User Interface; Advanced Alarm Management System; Real-time and Historical Trending; Communications Front-end Processor; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; and Inter-Control Center Communications Protocol software products, as well as a full suite of Transmission Network Analysis applications including State Estimator, Topology Processor, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis and Operator training Simulator functions.

WETT is a joint venture between two worldwide leaders in electric transmission development—Brookfield Asset Management and Isolux Corsán Concesiones of Spain—who have come together to build and operate high-voltage greenfield transmission lines in Texas. WETT’s members have an international reputation for quality engineering, construction and service and WETT will use its worldwide experience and global resources to speedily deliver a superior product providing Texans with the best transmission value and service available in the world. OSI provides open, state-of-the-art and high-performance automation solutions to utilities worldwide.

These solutions include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Network Management Systems (NMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Generation Management Systems (GMS); as well as individual software and hardware products and Smart Grid Solutions for utility operations internationally. OSI is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
