OSI to supply SCADA to Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska

March 13, 2013 - Open Systems International. (OSI) has been awarded a new contract by the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN), for a new SCADA and Generation Management System (GMS) based on OSI’s monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform. MEAN is one of four energy-related organizations under the trade name NMPP Energy, a nonprofit, member-owned organization that provides electricity, natural gas and utility-related services to nearly 200 member communities across six Midwestern and Mountain states.

The new monarch system for MEAN is set to include the functionality of OSI’s NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Advanced SCADA Functionality; Advanced Alarm Management System; Real-time and Historical Trending; Automatic Generation Control and Dispatch; Energy Market Control Algorithm; and Market Operations System software products. MEAN is the wholesale electricity supply organization of NMPP Energy. Created in 1981, MEAN provides power supply, transmission and related services to more than 60 communities, one public power district and one joint-action agency in four states: Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming. OSI provides open, state-of-the-art and high-performance automation solutions to utilities worldwide.

These solutions include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Network Management Systems (NMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Generation Management Systems (GMS); as well as individual software and hardware products and Smart Grid Solutions for utility operations. OSI is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
