OSIsoft announces partnership with Idaho National Laboratory to support microgrid and renewable technology research
The collaboration between OSIsoft and INL is intended to enable government and industry partners to advance the adoption of microgrid and renewable technologies

February 6, 2019 - OSIsoft LLC announced it is supporting research conducted with DOE’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL). OSIsoft will provide INL with the PI System and technical expertise for the testing and evaluation of microgrid components.

The collaboration between OSIsoft and INL is intended to enable government and industry partners to advance the adoption of microgrid and renewable technologies. Collaboration is a critical component of the business model at INL, which works with the Department of Defense and other government agencies, industry stakeholders, technology vendors, and academia to accelerate the adoption of standards-based, advanced energy technologies.

The creator of the PI System, OSIsoft supports research between government and industry efforts to advance situational awareness for energy systems. These efforts include delivery of real-time transmission and distribution data to provide more controls and options for energy providers.

OSIsoft announced the research initiative with INL focused on the development of a microgrid monitoring system. The goal is to enhance security and resilient operations of critical infrastructure and related systems.

OSIsoft delivers an open enterprise infrastructure, The PI System, to connect sensor-based data, systems and people.
