OVST- Mercury machine vision platform has been designed specifically to enable the rapid implementation of machine vision inspection.

Oxford Vision & Sensor Technology (OVST) announces the launch of OVST- Mercury, its latest machine vision platform which has been designed specifically to enable the rapid implementation of machine vision inspection for applications such as:

  • Part presence verification
  • Text reading
  • Assembly verification
  • Part location
  • Automatic inspection

OVST-Mercury has been designed specifically to enable fast deployment of vision applications using any number of cameras. The operator interface can be configured to suite individual requirements and multiple screens can be added allowing, for example, general data to be displayed on the OVST-Controller’s 19” touchscreen and specific inspection results to be displayed on large screens adjacent to assembly or rework areas.

As with all current OVST software, OVST-Mercury maintains comprehensive numeric log files allowing statistical analysis of results and text based log files for fault finding. The software also has interface options via Ethernet or most fieldbus networks (Device net, Profibus, Interbus etc)

The software will be used exclusively by OVST to provide complete machine vision systems for Industrial applications, to customers such as Ford, Honda, Fiat, and Jaguar Land Rover.

OVST Mercury complements, OVST-Glazer which is used for the guidance of industrial robots and OVST-Graphite, a machine vision software which uses MVTec’s Halcon library routines for more specialised inspection applications.

Anthony Williams, OVST’s Technical Director, thanked the technical team at OVST for their hard work, dedication and skill in developing another superb product and confirmed the first installations using “Mercury” and almost 80 cameras would be installed at a leading UK vehicle manufacture in the next few weeks.

Oxford Vision & Sensor Technology is based in Oxfordshire in the UK and specialises in the development, and implementation of vision systems for inspection and robot guidance within the automotive manufacturing and industrial engineering sectors - Providing robust and reliable solutions to a vast range of customer requirements
