Patrick E. Hughes Elected to ANSI Board of Directors
NEMA Vice President of Operations and Strategy elected to serve as Director-At-Large of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Dec. 10, 2020 - National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Vice President of Operations and Strategy Patrick E. Hughes was elected to serve a three-year term as Director-At-Large of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), a non-profit organization that administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary Standards and conformity assessment system.

“As an ANSI-accredited Standards developing organization, NEMA recognizes the importance of ANSI in promoting the interests of NEMA Members, both domestically and internationally,” said Hughes. “Robust voluntary consensus Standards and conformity assessment systems ensure that safe, reliable, and efficient products can compete in the global economy. I am honored to have been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of such an important institution, and I look forward to guiding the strategy of ANSI as we transition together to a digital, electric, and sustainable future.” Hughes has served in various roles of increasing responsibility within NEMA for eight years, most recently as Vice President of Operations and Strategy.

In his current role, he is responsible for the Association’s Standards development and conformity assessment activities, strategy development and execution, and operational oversight of all six NEMA Divisions and more than 50 product-specific Sections. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) represents nearly 325 electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers that make safe, reliable, and efficient products and systems. Our combined industries account for 370,000 American jobs in more than 6,100 facilities covering every state. These industries produce $124 billion in shipments and $42 billion in exports of electrical equipment and medical imaging technologies per year.
