TWINSBURG, Ohio, April 15, 2026 — Pepperl+Fuchs, the global leader and pioneer in electrical explosion protection, continues to grow its purge and pressurization portfolio with the release of an updated high-current Electronic Processing Control Unit (EPCU) for the 6000 Type X/Ex pxb purge and pressurization system.
This latest enhancement introduces an upgraded contact rating for the 6000 EPCU’s enclosure contacts. Previously rated at 8 A, the two enclosure contacts on the newest 6000 Series now support up to 12 A per contact. This increase allows higher-current applications to be supported directly, reducing or eliminating the need for additional high-current contacts or breakers housed in explosionproof enclosures and offering a significant project cost savings.
This supplement to the popular 6000 Series purge offering reflects Pepperl+Fuchs commitment to incorporating customer and sales feedback into product development. It also further strengthens the position of the 6000 Series as one of the most complete and advanced Type X/ pxb purge and pressurization solutions available on the market. With the new 6000 HC Series high-current output contacts, the system upgrade to 12A per contact allows the EPCU to switch enclosure power directly, eliminating the customers’ need for a separate contactor.
Designed as the complete solution for Division 1 or Zone 1/21 hazardous operations to non-hazardous areas, the stainless steel unit contains the controller, pneumatics, electrical I/O, and programming interface in one sleek, fully automatic package. With an intuitive user interface that allows users to configure the system to meet their specific application needs, the 6000 Series provides reliable protection in the most demanding applications. The 6000 Series purge system is designed to automatically energize enclosure power once the enclosure is safe and maintaining pressure.
