October 5, 2006 - TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs’ FieldConnex® Power Hub modular power supply, the latest in fieldbus technology with an integrated DP–PA segment coupler, is now available for PROFIBUS. Power Hub is a modular power supply system that provides multiple power supplies for PROFIBUS PA devices, and is also available for FOUNDATION Fieldbus-based applications.The connection of PROFIBUS DP and PA is transparent and configuration free to the DCS System. All field device data is translated inside the segment coupler such that the device appears to the DCS like a native DP-slave. No GSD-files - a readable ASCII text file that contains both general and device-specific specifications for communication and network configuration - are required when field devices are added.
The Power Hub is very reliable due to the motherboard's passive components. Power dissipation is typically less than 2 Watts. Power Hub also offers “CREST” - Crosstalk and Resonance Suppression Technology that protects other segments from noisy sources such as frequency converters or motors. Advanced Physical layer diagnostics supervise the fieldbus physical layer, a commonly overlooked element Fieldbus planning. The power modules and gateways are available in a redundant configuration.
Additionally, all modules are exchangeable under live conditions and will report unwanted status via PROFIBUS DP or a dedicated diagnostic bus.
