Pixelink announces 5.1 megapixel polarization camera
The machine vision camera will offer broader visual detection and characterization capabilities of material properties as well as improved performance over conventional monochrome sensors.

August 24, 2018 – Pixelink, a Navitar Company, announced plans to release a machine vision camera incorporating the Sony IMX250MZR polarization image sensor. The 5.1 megapixel camera will offer broader visual detection and characterization capabilities of material properties as well as improved performance over conventional monochrome sensors.

Pixelink’s polarization camera model features a 2/3” optical format, 3.45 micron pixel resolution and Sony’s pixel-level quad polarization filter feature. Four polarizer positions, one per pixel, are angled at 0°, 45°, 90° and 135° enabling detection of both the amount and angles of polarized light across an image. By filtering unwanted reflections and reducing glare, imaging previously undetectable defects, such as scratches, stress on materials and transparent objects, is now possible.
