Patent 7,343,684 was awarded to the zero backlash traction drive currently used in three and four axis PrecisePlace Cartesian robots.

Los Altos, California - May 13, 2008 - Precise Automation has been awarded U.S. Patent 7,343,684 for its innovative traction drive. This zero backlash drive, currently used in Precise Automation's three and four axis PrecisePlace Cartesian robots, provides linear motor repeatability and smoothness at a fraction of the cost. This traction drive system enables every PrecisePlace robot to operate much more quietly than ball screw axes and with much greater repeatability than belt drives, but at a comparable cost.

Combined with the Precise Automation's powerful motion controllers and machine vision software, PrecisePlace robots provide low cost, extremely smooth, quiet motion; require no external controller cabinets; and are easy to set-up. Brian Carlisle, President of Precise Automation, stated, "This Traction Drive patent is one example of the innovative technologies Precise Automation has developed to provide high-performance, cost-effective automation for small part material handing and assembly"
