May 27, 2020 – Process Sensors introduced the addition of a blackbody radiation source to its blackbody source family, the BBS500-57. The BBS500-57 is intended for use in the verification and calibration of non-contact infrared thermometers, infrared detectors, and thermal imaging camera systems. With a temperature range from 50°C to 500°C (122°F to 932°F), and a large aperture opening of 2.25 inches (57mm), it allows for calibration of optical variations in a wide range of infrared thermometers.
With an emissivity of 0.95, the isothermal target can be controlled in set-point increments of 0.1° within the temperature range. Resolution is 0.1°C/°F.
The BBS500-57 provides an accuracy rating of 0.3% or ±1.8°C at 500°C, and a stability of ±0.3° at 500°C. Higher precision measurements are achieved using a contact calibration method via an RTD inserted into a well that is located directly behind the target surface.
With use of an optional digital RTD thermometer and calibrated secondary probe, accuracies of ±0.1°C can be realized.
The BBS500-57 measures 7.08” high, by 4.48” wide, and 9.17” deep.
It weighs in at 5.91 pounds.
