November 8, 2007, Alexandria, LA – Procter and Gamble has been awarded the Mobile Campus Award by Mobile Enterprise Magazine. As detailed in the November 2007 Issue, Procter and Gamble worked with SpectraLink, now a part of Polycom, and Intech Studios premier software product PUMA (Plant.Unified.Messaging.Administrator) to implement the wireless VoIP telephone system.
These VoIP handsets receive actionable, real-time information delivered by PUMA on issues occurring throughout the manufacturing plant floor. This enabled managers and operators, regardless of their location, to remain aware of situations occurring in their line and ensure operations were running smoothly. This wireless telephone solution met Procter and Gamble’s goals for greatly improving communication and productivity among plant personnel by alerting operators to potential problems with manufacturing lines as well as ensuring plant managers could be easily reached while walking the floor. PUMA is installed at over 30 Procter and Gamble plants worldwide with more scheduled installations this fiscal year.
