Incorporated in Michigan in 1984, Promess develops, manufactures, and markets sensing devices, electronics, assembly presses and test systems.

May 28, 2009 - Promess, a manufacturer of industrial sensors, sensor application hardware, firmware, and supporting software, has reached a significant milestone marking the firm’s 25th year in business. Promess systems intelligently monitor and control manufacturing and assembly processes by measuring in-process assembly or functional force, position and torque to ensure end-users that resulting components and products are within specification.Incorporated in Michigan in 1984, Promess moved into its newly-built world headquarters on a 10-acre campus in Brighton in 1986 and subsequently expanded the facility in 1991 and again in 1998 to its present 25,000 square feet.

Plans and permits for an additional expansion have been completed and will be implemented as market conditions improve, says founder and president Larry Stockline. In addition to its Michigan headquarters, Promess also manufactures products in Berlin for distribution in Europe and worldwide. The firm provides global sales and technical support in 35 industrial countries. Stockline noted that Promess is a completely organic company which has never sought or accepted tax incentives in any form from city, state, or federal governmental agencies. “Our success,” Stockline said, “has been based on innovative products and people, cumulating in multiple patents.

In addition,” he said, “24 hour/365 day global customer service that meets real-world requirements for up-time, improved product quality and efficiency. That business model has supported our growth and the growth of the 100 Promess employees and we are confident it will continue into the future.”Promess is a 25-year-old firm that develops, manufactures, and markets its family of sensing devices, electronics, assembly presses and test systems on a global basis.
