Prosilica releases GE1650 GigE Vision Camera
GE1650 high-resolution, progressive scan, 2-megapixel CCD cameras operate at video frame rates of 30 Hz or more with 1600x1200 resolution for machine vision and industrial inspection applications. Both color and monochrome models are available with either standard C-mount or optional F-mount.

Vancouver, BC - February 27, 2007 - Prosilica has started shipping its latest addition to its extensive line of high-performance GigE Vision™ cameras. Responding to customer demand for high-resolution, progressive scan, CCD cameras operating at video frame rates of 30 Hz or more, Prosilica developed the 2-megapixel GE1650 that provides 12-bit image data running 30 frames per second at 1600x1200 resolution. The GE1650 incorporates a Kodak KAI-2020 progressive scan CCD sensor with electronic shutter suitable for capturing high-speed motion events. The GE1650’s GigE Vision gigabit Ethernet interface provides plug-and-play ease of use and cable lengths up to 100 meters using standard Cat5e network cabling.

Superior sensitivity, excellent image quality, high-resolution, fast frame rates, and very long cable length are just some of the features that make the GE1650 ideal for emerging traffic and public security applications as well as a wide range of machine vision and industrial inspection applications. Both color and monochrome models are available with either standard C-mount or optional F-mount.In addition to standard machine vision features, the GE1650 also incorporates advanced features such as binning (up to 8x8), on-camera color interpolation, frame rate controls, advance triggering modes, as well as a full range of programmatic and automatic exposure controls.

Users can also control camera peripheral devices such as motorized lenses, pan/tilt units, and other devices over the gigabit Ethernet interface through an integrated RS-232 port on the camera. This port is especially useful because the very long cable lengths provided by the Gigabit Ethernet interface mean that the camera can be placed very far from other control options. “This is the camera that so many have been waiting for. It has everything that a camera user could want – speed, resolution, sensitivity, image quality, cable length, and ease of use," says Marty Furse, Prosilica CEO.

"The GE1650 has a wide range of performance features facilitating to the widest range of demanding camera applications." The GE1650 is the latest GigE Vision camera from Prosilica. GigE Vision is a camera interface standard that provides plug-and-play interoperability between compatible software and hardware. For example, all of Prosilica’s GigE cameras operate plug-and-play with industry leading software from Matrox, National Instruments, Stemmer Imaging, and others.

Prosilica also provides, free of charge, a well designed software development kit (SDK) for camera control and image acquisition on Windows, Linux, or QNX operating systems.Prosilica Inc. is a leading manufacturer of CCD cameras and CMOS cameras with over 50 models ranging from VGA to 16-megapixel resolution based on Gigabit Ethernet (GigE Vision) and IEEE-1394 (firewire) interface technologies.
