The products covered by UUKL are intended to be installed in conjunction with heating-ventilating-air conditioning (HVAC) equipment to form a system for controlling the flow of smoke in a building during a fire condition.

July 11, 2013 - Real Time Automation. gateways meet the UUKL Smoke Control (UL-864) certification. Smoke control system manufactures now have a certified line of gateways that can move data between ASCII, BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet, and EtherNet TCP/IP devices in a smoke control system. “We had a number of customers using our gateways to move Modbus RTU and ASCII data to BACnet/IP smoke control systems.

In the past it was the smoke control system builder’s responsibility to certify the use of our gateway as a component in their UUKL smoke control system.“ said Drew Baryenbruch, product manager, Real Time Automation. “Now that our gateways feature the UUKL Smoke Panel (UL-864), the cost and complexity of integrating a gateway during certification is greatly reduced for our end customers.” The products covered by UUKL are intended to be installed in conjunction with heating-ventilating-air conditioning (HVAC) equipment to form a system for controlling the flow of smoke in a building during a fire condition in accordance with Smoke-Control Systems, NFPA 92A or 92B.
