Rockwell qualified the Symantec Embedded Security: Critical Systems Protection solution for interoperability with a range of Rockwell Automation software products in industrial control systems.

April 21, 2016 – Rockwell Automation has qualified the Symantec Embedded Security: Critical Systems Protection (SES:CSP) solution for interoperability with a range of Rockwell Automation software products in industrial control systems (ICS).

More industrial devices are becoming network connected, allowing for easier monitoring and control of the devices. However, this also opens them up to new avenues of attacks and even potential sabotage. Without the right defenses, attacks on industrial control system resources can have serious implications, including downtime, disruption of productivity, equipment damage and safety risks.

“The connectivity driving the industrial Internet of Things brings countless advantages for all manner of manufacturing and industrial automation, but requires effective protection to maximize plant uptime and safety,” said Sean Doherty, VP, Technology Partnerships and Alliances at Symantec. “Together, Symantec and Rockwell Automation are securing industrial systems against bad actors targeting critical infrastructure, further demonstrating our commitment to industrial security.”

“The benefits of a connected infrastructure can be overshadowed by downtime and safety risks,” said Clark Case, Security Platform Leader, Controls and Visualization Business, Rockwell Automation. “With Symantec as a member of our Encompass program, our customers can deploy increasingly connected industrial automation equipment to increase efficiency without compromising the safety of personnel and the community.”
