Carometec produces touch screen control panels, contained in a stainless steel enclosure, for use in slaughterhouses where they get pressure hosing at a temperature of over 80°C to kill all bacteria.

February 28, 2014 - Carometec develops equipment for sorting, traceability and quality control in the meat processing industry. The company produces touch screen control panels, contained in a stainless steel enclosure, for use in slaughterhouses where stringent hygiene requirements including pressure hosing at a temperature of over 80°C to kill all bacteria. Carometec A/S R&D Manager, Thomas Lauridsen, need to find a dust and watertight cable sealing solution for the company’s touch screen control panels. Plus, the company wanted a solution with the capability of replacing or adding new cables without having to remove the panel from the production line.

“These touch panels have been pressure hosed on a daily basis with water and cleaning agent at a temperature of 80°C and at a pressure in excess of 100 bar. We have never experienced problems due to the ingress of water or moisture,” states Henrik Andersen, CEO, Carometec. “Roxtec’s sealing solutions gives our customers far greater assurance against defects and production stoppages. Plus, the use of standard cables also means that cable replacement can be carried out on the production line, reducing downtime even further.” The panel enclosures with the Roxtec solution have been tested and approved to EN 60529 (IP 69K), the standard for water and dustproof capabilities for food industry equipment.

With well over 100 such panel enclosures now working in the field and not a single instance of damage due to moisture ingress despite the tough working conditions, CEO Henrik Andersen is highly satisfied with Roxtec sealing solutions.
