exida’s first industry certificate for SDL applies to Schneider Electric’s Process Automation business product development centers. It was developed to accelerate cybersecurity improvement for industrial automation and control systems (IACS).

May 12, 2016 – Schneider Electric, a specialist in energy management and automation, has been certified by exida, a globally recognized ISO 17065 accredited Certification Body in cybersecurity, for compliance with its Security Development Lifecycle certification based on IEC 62443-4-1.

exida’s first industry certificate for SDL applies to Schneider Electric’s Process Automation business product development centers in Foxboro, Massachusetts, Worthing, U.K., and Hyderabad, India. It is based on international cybersecurity standards and was developed to accelerate industry-wide cybersecurity improvement for industrial automation and control systems (IACS).

Cybersecurity is fundamental to Schneider Electric’s principles of helping its customers achieve more with fewer resources in a more connected world.

The new exida certification applies to Schneider Electric’s Foxboro Evo process control system and Foxboro SCADA systems. Additionally, the three certified sites demonstrate that Schneider Electric uses a product development lifecycle that considers cybersecurity in every phase, part of an institutionalized commitment to securing industrial automation and control systems.

The company will demonstrate its cybersecurity knowledge at CONNECT 2016, its annual Automation Conference at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel beginning Monday, May 23. The four-day conference will include more than 75 user-driven industry sessions, technical application workshops and accredited training courses. Each session has been designed specifically for customers, partners and OEMs to share their expertise across the company’s broad set of control solutions, including its Foxboro, Modicon and PlantStruxure PES process automation systems, plus its telemetry and remote SCADA offerings and Triconex safety systems.

Attendees will be able to take part in several sessions devoted to cybersecurity, as well hear a keynote address delivered by Bridget Fitzpatrick, a member of the ISA Standards and Practices Board and managing director for the ISA18, entitled HMI & Alarm Management Best Practices and Cybersecurity: Be Aggressive as the Hackers.
