NEW FAMILY OF ENCLOSED DRIVES FROM SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC PROVIDE SUPERIOR VOLTAGE SAG IMMUNITY, COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES

PALATINE, Ill. – September 3, 2003 – A new family of enclosed Square D® adjustable speed drives with superior voltage sag immunity and unmatched communications capabilities has been introduced by Schneider Electric. The Altivar® CL8839 58M family of drives is designed for a broad range of industrial and commercial applications, including semiconductor processing, pharmaceutical and biotech applications and pump control in water/wastewater treatment applications. CL8839 58M drives have built-in Ethernet connectivity, incorporating the Altivar 58 TRX with its extended communications capabilities. They have been certified for compliance with the SEMI F47 voltage sag requirements of the semiconductor industry and are available in an extended horsepower rating up to 500 HP.

Packaged in Type 1, Type 12, integrated or barriered enclosures for wall or floor mounting, the drives come with an optional door mounted display center with a three-color matrix screen for clear messaging. Pre-punched conduit knockouts assure ease of installation, and job specific approval drawings speed project cycle time. A four-position selector switch simplifies monitoring and control capabilities for increased productivity. The UL listed drives conform to all international standards including NEMA ICS, NFPA and IEC. Standard features include circuit breaker disconnect for lock-outs, door mounted keypad, dry contacts for drive run and drive fail indication, low noise switching frequency and a 120 V control circuit.

Factory-available modifications included door mounted pilot devices, seismic qualification, line contactors, isolation/bypass contactors, communication cards, I/O cards and other factory engineered modifications.
