August 2, 2012 – Schneider Electric releases Ethernet Gateway, providing integrated motion using MDrive motor+driver serial products over Ethernet. The Ethernet Gateway enables the use of MDrive serial products over Ethernet networks via EtherNet/IP and ModbusTCP protocols. MDrive over Ethernet delivers advantages to a wide range of industrial motion applications in a compact, low cost package that is ODVA conformance tested and will interface with many manufacturer systems including Rockwell, Omron and Schneider Electric. MDrive products over Ethernet use a Windows-based TCP/IP Configuration Utility to set parameters and assembly object mapping.
Adherence to established protocol standards enables the networking of products from different manufacturers, without the need for special interface adaptation. As an adapter class device, MDrive products over Ethernet are capable of explicit or implicit messaging. “Customers are seeing the great value delivered by integrated motor solutions and Ethernet systems,” says Paul Kling, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, SEM USA. “And now, with the Ethernet Gateway, it is possible to run MDrive RS-422/485 serial products over Ethernet.”
