(OST). Oxford Sensor Technology Ltd., based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, designs and produces vision sensors for industrial robot guidance.
Products include: Circular Scanning Sensor (CSS) – A 3D sensor for seam location and tracking whilst welding and automated vehicle door and panel fitting.Specular Reflection Sensor (SRS) – A 3D system for robot guidance in automotive glazing cells. The SRS is the only system, proven in industry, for inserting windscreens whilst the vehicle is still moving along the production line.Wire Finder – A fast and accurate method of correcting for welding torch distortion and contact tip wear.Funding has been provided by Schneider Electric Ventures,, a wholly owned subsidiary of Schneider ElectricIndustries, whose function is to invest in “dynamically managed, innovative companies, with aggressive growth potential”.
The funding will be used as part of Oxford Sensor Technology’s planned expansion programme and for the development of new sensor technology and applications, which will reach the market early next year.The investment has also given Oxford Sensor Technology opportunities to share information with access to Schneider Electric’s large international sales force., increasing consumer awareness of OST products.
