PALATINE, Ill. — March 7, 2007 — Jim Pauley has assumed the role of vice-chairman of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). He officially began his tenure in January 2007. In addition to his new role, Pauley will continue serving as vice-president, industry and government relations for Schneider Electric North American Operating Division — best known in the United States by its flagship Square D® brand of electrical distribution and control equipment. “ANSI strives to deliver outstanding value to its members by providing insight into best practices for standards, conformity assessment and technical regulations, creating networking opportunities and facilitating access to industry information and business intelligence.

He has served in many other groups throughout the industry, including the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Square D has been a member organization of ANSI since 1970.At the Schneider Electric North American Operating Division, Pauley is responsible for directing company activities in all aspects of industry standards — both domestic and international. He leads the conformity assessment strategy and implementation associated with company products and is also responsible for company positions on policy issues at local, state and national levels.
Pauley has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Professional Engineer Registration in Kentucky. He also has written multiple papers, including “North American Codes and Standards: A Global Challenge.”
