Control Unit allows mechanical and non-contact switches to be used together

FREMONT, CA – Scientific Technologies, Inc. (STI) introduces the CM Series Compact Coded Magnetic Safety Interlock Switch and Control Unit. The new tamper resistant, non-contact safety interlock switch and a control unit features a NEMA 6 encapsulated design allowing it to meet the needs of most applications. The CM-S4 control unit provides external device monitoring (also referred to as MPCE monitoring) and has an automatic reset button, which allows the control unit to replace a safety relay in most applications.

The control unit also features removable terminal blocks for simplified wiring and installation. The control unit will monitor up to four CM switches to category 3 in accordance with EN954-1. The control unit allows mechanical switches and CM Series switches to be used together for applications requiring non-contact and mechanical safety interlock switches. The CM Series switch and actuator comes in three shapes and sizes to accommodate a variety of application requirements. The system has a misalignment tolerance of 5 and 9 mm to reduce nuisance tripping.
