SICK releases capacitive sensor for liquids and bulk materials
The CQ28 programmable capacitive sensor detects liquids and bulk materials through non-metallic walls at sensing distances of up to 10 mm. A typical application is fill level detection in tanks, containers or pipe systems for all types of media (liquids, solids and powders). Its IP 68 housing ensures dependable function under almost all operating conditions.

Minneapolis, Minn. – December 14, 2006 - SICK announced the launch of its newest capacitive sensor – the CQ28. This programmable capacitive sensor features a unique thin, sleek design packed with flexibility. Its flat housing offers numerous mounting options, while maintaining room for the visibility of two LEDs.Teach-in functionality is conveniently available through the control wire or push-button.

Due to its thin design, the CQ28 offers numerous mounting options, including clamp fitting, tiewrap mounting, and recessed installations. It features two LEDs, which show the current switching state and the quality of detection. Finally, the availability of both a PNP and NPN switching output versions provides flexibility within the same product. With the CQ28, liquids and bulk materials can be reliably detected through non-metallic walls in sensing distances of up to 10 mm.

For example, a typical application for the CQ28 is fill level detection in tanks, containers or pipe systems detecting all types of media (e.g. liquids, solids, powders). The CQ28 has enhanced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), which reliably prevents spurious switching caused, for example, by interfering surge voltages. These surges or electromagnetic interferences can come from electrostatically charged granulate in bulk material silos, mobile telephones, radio devices, magnetic valves, and frequency converters.

The IP 68 housing ensures dependable function under almost all operating conditions.
