DAYTON, OH - SICK STEGMANN, INC. introduces the SKM 36 SinCos„µ Motor Feedback System with HIPERFACE„µ interface. The SKM 36 multi-turn rotary encoder tracks absolute position over 4096 turns and features a minimum number of components to allow miniature and subminiature motor manufacturers to considerably shorten the overall length of their motors. A unique gearbox design includes only three stages of operation, compared with five or six stages common to conventional multi-turn gearbox designs. Conventional systems inevitably have code disc, ball bearing and shaft errors.

The SKM 36 features innovative Mini-Disc (MiDi) technology that includes a track radius of just 2 mm. This permits full scanning of the entire code disc that compensates for such errors common to conventional systems, effectively eliminating their negative effects on system performance. Additionally, the code disk is mounted in the center of the axis of rotation; so high angular velocities are not limited by the code disk.SICK STEGMANN, INC. is a wholly owned subsidiary of SICK AG in Waldkirch, Germany.
