SICK STEGMANN Introduces Wire Draw Mechanism with Encoder Length Measurement
The MRA-F Wire Draw Mechanism, combined with absolute or incremental encoders, provides linear path solutions for a wide variety of applications, with measuring lengths up to 50 meters. Additional features include a simply mounted encoder, high precision measurement drum, stable spring return, highly flexible steel rope and steel dirt removers for reduced wear and increased product life.

DAYTON, OH – SICK STEGMANN, INC. introduces the MRA-F Wire Draw Mechanism. Combined with SICK|STEGMANN’s absolute or incremental encoders, the MRA-F provides linear path solutions for a wide variety of applications, with measuring lengths up to 50 meters. With the SSI interface, Profibus, CANopen or DeviceNet fieldbus technology for absolute wire draw encoders, and HTL or TTL interface for incremental wire draw encoders, the interface required for data transmission is available for any application, fulfilling the demanding requirements of automation technology.

Additional features include a simply mounted encoder, a high precision measurement drum, stable spring return, highly flexible steel rope and steel dirt removers for reduced wear and increased product life. The MRA-F works by way of drum rotation, which is proportional to the length being measured. This movement is counted by an encoder and converted to a measuring signal, providing high-resolution position or distance information for linear measurement paths, even under difficult ambient conditions. The kind of precise linear guidance required by other systems becomes unnecessary.

Wire draw mechanisms with absolute or incremental encoders are well suited for use in a variety of industries and applications, including crane, drilling and excavator systems; presses, punching and injection machines; weir systems and locks; high-bay shelving and theatre stages; woodworking and stone processing machines; machinery construction; and medical technology, among others.SICK STEGMANN, INC. is a wholly owned subsidiary of SICK AG in Waldkirch, Germany. SICK|STEGMANN is a world leader in the design and manufacture of incremental, absolute and linear encoders, as well as motor feedback systems.
