Plant Asset Management uses software, smart instrumentation and fieldbus communications to continuously monitor the critical plant assets, reducing the risk of failures while increasing equipment availability.

October 6, 2009 - Plant Asset Management from Siemens Industry delivers an economical way to immediately reap the benefits of intelligent plant maintenance with existing or new Simatic PCS 7 process control systems. Plant Asset Management uses a combination of software, smart instrumentation and fieldbus communications to continuously monitor the critical plant assets, reducing the risk of failures while increasing equipment availability. Additionally, because Plant Asset Management was designed to integrate into the PCS 7 process control system, minimal engineering and configuration efforts are required.

PCS 7 plant asset management provides a comprehensive platform that includes all plant assets such as, valves, process instrumentation, computers, networking equipment, drives, motors, pumps, process control components such as control processors and I/O modules, process analyzers and non-intelligent assets such as heat exchangers and other process equipment. “Plant Asset Management seamlessly integrates all plant assets into a single location for both process control and asset management information,” says Rich Chmielewski, PCS 7 marketing manager, Siemens Industry, Inc. “It also greatly lowers engineering and installation costs by providing common, integrated tools to configure and maintain the system.”
