September 28, 2010 - Siemens Industry added analog and temperature I/O choices to its Simatic S7-1200 compact controller, enabling it to be used in a variety of small process applications. The high-density, four- and eight-channel modules offer twice the number of channels per module in the same standard expansion module case size.Combined with the Step 7 Basic engineering software, users can easily configure up to 16 separate PID loops per CPU.

Built-in autotune and a PID commissioning interface further simplify installation and start-up.The SM 1231 series eight-channel analog input module supports industry standard unipolar 0-10VDC, 0-5VDC, 0-20mA and bi-polar ± 5VDC, ±2.5VDC input signals. The SM 1232 series four-channel analog output module supports both 0-10VDC and 0-20mA output signals.

All output channels support higher resolution 14 data bits plus sign providing enough precision to help users solve complex automation tasks. The TC four-channel thermocouple temperature input module supports seven different thermocouple sensor types and ±80mv input signals, enabling it to perform in a variety of temperature control applications. The four-channel RTD temperature input module supports eight different RTD sensor types and 150-ohm, 300-ohm, and 600-ohm resistance inputs. The analog and temperature modules can be DIN-rail or panel mounted and easily connect to the right-side backplane of an S7-1200 CPU.

All S7-1200 hardware modules are certified with industry standard agency approvals including CE, cUL US, Factory Mutual Class 1 Div 2, ATEX for Hazardous Locations, and C-Tick.Siemens Simatic S7-1200 compact controller is a worldwide accepted control and monitoring solution for both simple and complex applications including discrete machine control, regulatory process control, remote telemetry, SCADA and motion control.
